aesthetica   creates a high resolution photorealistic 3D model of the product, and then allows both designers and engineers to assign the manufacturing variance so they can evaluate the effects on the Perceived Quality of the product.

aesthetica   simulates the effects of manufacturing variation, including component shape variation and deformation, and applies these results directly to the position and shape of the components of the digital model. The visual presentation of the results provides a powerful diagnostic capability, enabling the quick identification of aesthetic problems that are not apparent from the numerical tolerance analysis results.

Unique features

  • Predict variation and physical deformation and apply this directly to the shape and position of components within an assembly
  • Assess perceived quality from the customers perspective in real environments very early in the product development
  • Analyze assemblies containing rigid and flexible components
  • Directly compare measurement targets with predicted variation based on existing manufacturing processes and experience

Data preparation

  • Import CAD geometry in either STEP, IGES, JT and ICN format
  • Full range of tools for editing geometry, materials, features, GD&T and measurements to quickly construct full simulation models
  • Define multiple material sets representing each color and trim variant for the product
  • Import live measurement data for locator schemes and individual part variations directly from production databases using a customisable interface for products such as CM4D from QMC
Create tolerance assumption tables automatically apply tolerances to parts based on material and manufacturing process

Visualization

  • High performance interactive 3D rendering of large complete CAD models
  • Utilizing the latest graphics hardware, including per-pixel shading and user defined anti-aliasing
  • Full support for environment mapping and 360x360 cubing mapping
Large library of fully configurable shader materials

Simulation features

  • Advanced feature recognition and creation
  • Interactive constraint-based assembly modelling
  • Full ASME Y14.5 GD&T Specification and Monte Carlo Analysis
  • Automatic mesh generation capability for flexible parts with user controlled resolution
Accurate visual simulation of component deformation, include interactive stress and displacement shaders

Review

  • Present the visual results of predicted or specified variation on the product assembly
  • Interactively browser the variation histogram to visualize the Monte Carlo results
  • Use the gap and flush fit tool to visualize any combination of gap and flush conditions specified by design
  • Dynamic tape measures allow live measurements to be taken directly off the digital model

Data input / output

  • Automatically create reports using the fully customizable report generator
  • Output 3D models, including variation, to HyperShot from BunkSpeed, Showcase from AutoDesk and DeltaGen from RTT
  • Generate animations in AVI format of model fly throughs and max/min variations
Export assemblies in STEP and IGES format
