aesthetica™ Overview

aesthetica™ is a leading edge product from Icona Solutions for visualizing the impact of variation in assemblies to quickly resolve fit and finish quality issues at every stage of the design process.

aesthetica is used to support critical aesthetic assessment activities throughout the product development process. In summary, these are:

• Early gap and flush target setting in visually sensitive areas of the product.
• Feasibility studies against design targets for early locator strategies.
• Visualizing the impact of the full stack-up of variation within the assembly.
• Diagnosis and verifying possible solutions to rectify aesthetic issues post-production.

There are two basic types of study that can be conducted using aesthetica. Both studies essentially have the same technical requirement, i.e. visualizing the effect of variation on the appearance of the product; however they differ in the source of the variation and the stage in the product development process when it is undertaken.

These areas are:

At the design stage - Visually reviewing the proposed measurement plans on A-Class surface models early in the design process.

At the engineering stage - Visually reviewing the impact of locator strategies and variation stack-up within the assembly during early engineering development.
